THE CARICATURE GUY

This is Ed Smith, the lead caricature artist at The Caricature Guy.

Ed Smith is a decidedly boring name, but he’s actually a fairly interesting person. As part of the former Building #19 advertising team and a published editorial cartoonist, he may be one of the most famous caricature artists you’ve never heard of.  (If you are really trying to kill time at work you can read the rest of that story here)

Ed’s been drawing caricatures and entertaining guests at live events like weddings, corporate events, bar/bat-mitzvahs, trade shows and private parties for over 25 years. In all that time there has never been a single lawsuit so it seems to be going well.

With tens of thousands of individual caricatures under his belt, Ed’s gotten pretty good at achieving a “flattering likeness” that makes people feel good when they get to see what they really look like. He’s also mastered the art of the six minute conversation. (This is a neat parlor trick that makes it far less awkward to be stared at across a table by a total stranger with a pen.)

Ed’s also got a roster of 10 of the best local caricature artists  working for him whom he can call on if you are planning a large event and need more artists. (He also has a fairly large group of friends whom he can call on if you need more guests for your party. Either way.)
